How to Attract Attention as a Leader to Grow Your Business

Lisa LeadershipSpring is a time when gardeners are busy tilling the soil, pulling weeds, planting exotic varieties and showering their cultivated plots of land to grow a gorgeous bouquet from the ground up. The goal of most dedicated gardeners is to get their beautiful flowers noticed.

In many ways, a marketing, development or strategy leader within any organization (large or small) is out in the field also trying to attract the right kind of attention for the quality services your organization has tirelessly cultivated. As leaders position their organizations in the highly competitive landscape of healthcare, being thoughtful about your actions can achieve the right type of buzz.

Consider the following market positioning tactics:

– The Thought Leader: A great avenue for positioning an organization and building brand awareness is through guest columns in industry journals or online publications and presentations during trade conferences. Review your team’s skills and take “inventory” of the insight that could be shared, to colleagues and consumers. Tap into state and national trade associations to be that sought-after thought leader and whose company has a solution for the top issues impacting care delivery. Be the go-to resource for educating consumers on issues top of mind for post-acute care.

– The Perfect Host: It is also critical for leaders to make connections and spread knowledge in-person with potential referral sources, partners and colleagues. When attending meetings and conferences, make the most the time spent by hosting private “after-hours” events, one-on-one meetings and presenting to larger groups. Host local lunch and learn events that reaches your target audience groups.

– The “Ultimate Connector”: by Derek Coburn describes in his recent book, “Networking is not Working”, bringing together a group of 20 to 30 colleagues who include your business colleagues, their key relationships and other remarkable professionals with whom you want to collaborate. These colleagues will keep you in the loop and help you be a better resource, while also giving you the opportunity to help them. With the right people in your group, you can open more doors for everyone-including yourself.

This spring, be inspired to grow your team to position your organization in a renewed way.
