AANAC Recertification Course: Updates and Common Coding Errors

Seminar

Topic: AANAC

Description

This Course was developed to update clinicians who are experienced with the Resident Assessment Instrument/Minimum Data Set (RAI/MDS) Process and the Skilled Nursing Facility/Prospective Payment System (SNF/PPS). Because regulatory changes occur frequently, this course is designed to add to the knowledge base of clinicians involved in the long term care field who participate in the RAI/MDS Process.

How the Recertification Program Works: (one day)

To be eligible to become RAC-CT® Recertified (Resident Assessment Coordinator - Certified®) an individual must:

¨ Be a clinician/professional involved in the RAI process.

¨ Have already certified in MDS 3.0 that began April 2010

(MDS 2.0 holders cannot take this workshop to become certified in 3.0)

¨ Complete and pass the 2 associated exams required to recertify

Objectives:

¨ Discuss updates to RAI User’s Manual and to SNF PPS for fiscal year 2012

¨ Identify the most common MDS coding errors and how to avoid them

Please note: Certifications and recertification's are good for two years once all required courses are completed and passed with a score of 80% or higher.
